Belgium – Sharing Assets for Sustainable Healthcare Organizations
CASE STUDY | GENERAL HOSPITAL
The hospital discovered there was quite some inefficiency in terms of usage
of assets across the hospital: the department of internal medicine was preparing a procurement request for an ultrasound, whilst gynecology had just recently bought one they didn’t use full-time. Office supplies, like printer cartridges, would typically be bought, forgotten about and were filling up desk drawers. A suction device was collecting dust at cardiology, whilst another department was looking for just that piece of equipment but had run out of budget for the year.
FLOOW2 Healthcare created an internal sharing platform for the hospital.
They are now using the platform to advertise supply of, as well as demand for, equipment, excess stock, facilities and staff. Through the internal sharing marketplace, they were able to connect departments, avoid procurement of equipment and supplies that were already available, and to share equipment for a fraction of the price of a new piece of equipment.
